Guide Vert 2009 : Triennes, a Domaine to Follow!!!
Normal 0 21 This estate has garnered praise for technically impeccable wines and clever choices such as the strong use of Cinsault in the Rosé. In the same mono-varietal logic, Viognier, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon are made, sometimes with mixed success, to produce nice varietal wines. Purchased at the end of 1989 by Aubert de Villaine and Jacques Seysses, this property is well situated with a southern exposed coteau, sloping gently between the mountain of the Sainte-Baume and the Mont Auréliens, to the east of Aix-en-Provence. The Logis de Nans [the former name of the property] -fallen into near abandon at the time of purchase- is a clay and limestone terroir of 46 hectares of vineyards located between 420 and 450 meters of altitude, good at producing wines that are fresh and drinkable. The domaine was re-named Triennes in the honor of the Triennia, bacchanalian feasts that happened every three years during Roman times.

The Wines: le 2007 Sainte-Fleur masters its exuberant varietal character with a touch of minerality. Good acidity gives it freshness and makes it very drinkable. The rosé is spicy; it is marked by a very good texture and the style is flavoursome. The red is the strong point of the domaine: with good ripeness, it has richness and good texture; the wine is concentrated with finesse, vibrant without being rustic. A good bottle.

Triennes honored: Gold medals!
Every year, Paris hosts the main French agricultural fair: the Salon de l’Agriculture. As part of the Fair, juries award medals to France’s best agricultural products, and among these to wines. This competition is called the Concours General Agricole and is one of the most historical and prestigious such events in France. Any wines of the latest vintage can be entered, but per category, there are only three medals: bronze, silver and gold.

Triennes Rosé 2008: Médaille d’Or

For the second consecutive year, our Rose won the Gold Medal. We are very proud to see our team’s efforts crowned. We always aim for this wine to associate successfully freshness and length to exubérant fruit qualities…

Triennes Sainte-Fleur Viognier 2008: Médaille d’Or Concours des Vins de Pays

In another competition, the annual Concours des Vins de Pays, our Sainte-Fleur 2008 claimed the title of best white wine for the Var area.
The Viognier is our most frequently awarded wine. The 2008 follows its predecessors proudly, displaying the usual fireworks of aromatics : honeysuckle, apricots, almonds, white fruits, and more. On the palate, one finds the minerality, length and freshness that caracterize the Triennes wines.
